Thirunavukkarasu

Dr. N. Thirunavukkarasu is an Associate Professor at the Department of Zoology, Presidency College, Chennai. He had 23 years of teaching and 26 years of research experience. He obtained his Master’s and Doctoral degree in Marine Biology and Oceanography with Distinction from Annamalai University and received the Best Ph.D thesis award. He has qualified NET in Fisheries Science conducted by ICAR-ASRB. His specialization includes Crustacean Biology & Culture and Microplastics in the marine environment. In his credits, he published 85 research articles in reputed international and national journals, authored 5 books and 8 book chapters. He has investigated 5 research projects funded by the University Grants Commission, Tamil Nadu State Council for Science & Technology, Tamil Nadu State Council for Higher Education, United Board of Christian Higher Education in Asia and Directorate of Technical Education (Chief Minister’s Research Grant) with the worth of 50 lakhs. He supervised 7 Ph.Ds, 4 M.Phils students and conducted 3 International & 8 National conferences / seminars / workshops by various funding agencies. He is a reviewer of Journal of Threatened Taxa, Journal of Environmental Biology, Academia Biology, Indian Journal of Geo-Marine Science, Environment Research & Technology, Uttar Pradesh Journal of Zoology, Toxicology Journal and Journal of Coastal Conservation. He delivered 30 invited talks in various trainings & seminars. He also serving as an Associate NCC Officer for the past 13 years. He also served as Head, Dept. of Marine Studies and Coastal Resource Management from Madras Christian College from 2008 to 2011. He has visited Indonesia, The Philippines and Malaysia.
